Why this product exists
I'm an artist. Over the past fifteen years I built a career — gallery shows, national press, television — by setting goals and slowly, intentionally chipping away at them. One goal at a time.
One day I wrote my biggest goal on the side of a candle with a pencil and lit it while I worked. It sat there every day — a visual reminder of where I was going. As it burned down, it reminded me of how far I'd come.
I gave them to the people I loved. And over and over, I watched them pick one up and say the same thing: "I needed this."
The palette came from the walls of Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle — painted by Ludwig Bemelmans, the artist behind Madeline, one of my deepest artistic inspirations. A room designed to make you slow down and feel something. That's what this candle is meant to do.
